Soroptimist FFF Children’s Fancy Dress Competition 2016

Age groups (as at December 1st 2016):

(1) Under 6 years old; and

(2) Under 10 years old

We are proud to present the FANCY DRESS COMPETITION (“Competition”) with the theme “It’s a green world” at the SIROM Food & Fun Fiesta 2016.

Registration for the Competition will be available until midnight 1st November 2016 by completing and signing the REGISTRATION FORM (fancy-dress-competition-form) and submitting the same together with proof of payment of participation fee of RM30 per child (“Participation Fee”) (image of transaction slip to ‘Soroptimist International Club of Bangsar’ @ Maybank a/c no:014123521599) to sicbangsar@gmail.com Please provide your email address for an acknowledgement/receipt.

This will require you to agree and abide by the RULES OF THE COMPETITION.  Please make sure you have read them before you register.

Even if you have pre-registered you need to stop by the Registration Desk half (1/2) hour before the Competition starts to let us know you are here and for briefing/instructions.

*NOTE: REMINDER – TIME LIMIT FOR EACH CONTESTANT PERFORMANCE IS LIMITED TO TWO (2) minutes.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

  1. Registration will be by completing and signing the fancy-dress-competition-form (please click on the link to download) and submitting the same together with proof of payment of the Participation Fee (image of transaction slip to ‘Soroptimist International Club of Bangsar’ @ Maybank a/c no:014123521599) to sicbangsar@gmail.com by midnight 1st November 2016.
  1. Individual presentation is limited to TWO (2) minutes.
  1. NO microphones may be used by the contestants.
  1. All Contestants must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. The Organizer is not responsible for the safety or security of the Contestant or his/her property if any throughout the Competition.
  1. Registered Contestants will report to the Registration Desk with their parent/guardian for briefing and information at 10.30 a.m. on 20th November 2016.
  1. There is no large backstage area and there is no private dressing rooms; show up ready to go onstage.
  1. After your performance, you will return to the designated area to await the judges’ results.
  1. The Organizers reserve the right to cancel the Competition with prior notice and refund the Participation Fee received in the event they are unable to meet their target number of participants.

Q: How much does it cost to enter the Competition?

Q: How do I enter the Competition?

A: Complete and sign the REGISTRATION FORM and submit with proof of payment of the Participation Fee to sicbangsar@gmail.com by midnight 1st November 2016.

EVEN IF YOU PRE-REGISTERED YOU NEED TO COME BY THE REGISTRATION DESK TO CONFIRM YOU ARE PARTICIPATING on 20th November 2016.

Q: How is the order of contestants determined?

A: All children go on stage according to sequence.

Q: Certificates

A: Each child receives a certificate. It is helpful to have the full names of the children before the Competition so the certificates can be ready for distribution at the conclusion of the Competition.

Q: Judging

Basically, the judges score all entrants, the scores are logged into a spreadsheet, and we check the tallied scores for the highest total scores.

Q: How do the judges score the Contestants?

A: The judges award a score of 0 to 10 for each of 3 attributes for each contestant. The attributes are:

Originality/Adaptation: Is this the most original concept the judges and audience have seen, or the best adaptation of “It’s a green world”?

Note to Contestants: please provide a description of your costume to enable the emcee to announce your entrance.

Composition: Did someone go out and buy this, or did the Contestant spend hours glueing, sewing, welding, etc. – is this a labour of love or dollars?

Presentation: Does the Contestant stays in character (or does something completely out of character) that grabs the audience?

Q: What do the winners win?

A: There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes for each age group.

Q: How do I get up and off stage?

A: We have stairs on both sides of the stage and from backstage. We will have volunteers to guide Contestants up the entrance and down the exit side.

Q: Can I have someone take pictures of me in my costume?

A: We will have a group photo at the end of the show. Parents and public may take pictures as they please.

Q: Can I have friends backstage with me?

A: No – we do not have adequate room backstage for anyone who is not directly involved with the show.

Q: What happens to Contestants who break the rules?

A:  The Organizer will escort the offending Contestant(s) from the stage and the contestant will be disqualified.
