JOHOR BARU: It was a fun outing for some 200 less fortunate children at the screening of Beauty and the Beast movie at a shopping centre here.

The children, aged between two and 17 years old, were from Rohingya Tampoi Community School, orphanages, orang asli community, Down Syndrome children as well as those from poor families.

The outing was organised by the Soroptimist International Club of Iskandar Puteri while the tickets were sponsored by the public.

Nurelisya Abdul Kahan, 10, from an orphanage, said she enjoyed the movie as they hardly had the chance to go to the cinemas.

“My last outing to a movie was last year with some friends to watch Upin & Ipin Jeng Jeng Jeng,” she said.

Norman Abdul Nasir, nine, also said he enjoyed the outing and hopes more non-governmental organisations would hold free movie screenings for the less fortunate children.

Soroptimist International Club of Iskandar Puteri president Nooraini Mohd Yasin said the club look forward to organising more outings for the children in the future.
