An SI Weekend of Food & Fun
The Soroptimist Food & Fun Fiesta on 19-20 November 2016 at the Bukit Damansara Community Centre was a culmination of many months of hard work by the SIROM Exco and Club representatives. It was the first time that the clubs had all come together to organise an event like this. Clubs outside the Klang valley who participated included SI Kota Kinabalu, SI Iskandar Puteri, our newest club which was just chartered recently, SI Penang and SI Ipoh.
There were over 70 vendors, food trucks, games stalls, animal adoption drives and even a petting zoo. Gleaming BMW, Lotus and Volkswagen cars from our sponsors were parked in the porch for viewing and test drives. Our other sponsors such as EcoWorld, MRCB, Henry Butcher, UEM Sunrise, GBG and SkyWorld also showcased their latest developments. A continuous exciting list of entertainment managed by our National Rep Nora Lam included singing by the popular performer Sandra Wolf, a children’s fancy dress competition on the theme of “It’s a Green World”, and an Air Guitar competition where the youngest performer was 5 and the oldest was 55! In between were raffle prize announcements which kept everyone on their toes.
SIROM President Anita Pater’s vision for this event was threefold – to have a platform to raise awareness of Soroptimism to the general public, to raise funds for club projects and to create fellowship with sister Soroptimists in Malaysia. All three objectives were achieved and much positive feedback was received from the public as well as our members.
Here are some of the highlights:
